Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Two games in, Ray Allen’s transformation into a sixth man has borne fruit. The guard, who for only the sixth time in his career came off the bench last night, broke the Celtics [team stats]’ 86-72 win against the Indiana Pacers open with three fourth-quarter 3-pointers. Like most of his teammates, Allen got off to a slow start, but he finished with 19 points, four steals, seven rebounds and five treys. “We got him good shots,” coach Doc Rivers said. “I told him it’s going to take a couple of games. You’re still trying to get your legs back. In the second half you could see that he had a breakthrough, and I thought that was terrific. I like the way he’s getting (shots). He didn’t search for them. “With the second unit he and Kevin (Garnett) are the go-to (guys). Kevin couldn’t buy a shot for a while

Should we be concerned that Ray Allen isn't talking?

So Ray Allen has come off the bench the past 3 games and done well in that new role. Avery Bradley continues to flourish as a starter. Everything is great right? Maybe, but maybe not. CSNNE analyst Donny Marshall, a former teammate back at UCONN and friend of Ray's, has repeatedly cautioned that demoting the future hall of famer to the bench could very well cause problems. Marshall...

Ray Allen discusses being uncomfortable off the bench, thoughts about basketball mortality

Ray Allen has generally adjusted to life on the bench with as chipper an attitude as could be expected when a future Hall of Famers gets demoted in favor of a raw 21-year old. (I should note here that it’s not really much of a demotion since Allen will likely play most crunch time minutes, regardless.) He has handled the situation like he has handled the rest of his career, with...

Avery Bradley starting again against Indiana Pacers tonight

In related news, Ray Allen said moving to the second unit might actually help him get into a better flow. (Boston Herald)“The way it’s been, that first six or seven minutes I’m kind of floating a little bit, and that’s how I’ve been for the last few months,” said Allen. “The second unit gives me the ability to get more shots and have the ball in my hands a little...

Your Morning Dump... Where Ray Allen is the ultimate professional

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Ray Allen: ‘I don’t ever want to come off the bench’

Avery Bradley has started at shooting guard during Ray Allen’s absence with an injured ankle. Bradley filled in, more than admirably, averaging 12.6 points per game. The hysteria over who will start hit the New England area, as Ray was preparing to return to action, on Wednesday versus the San Antonio Spurs. Doc opted for [...]

Ray Allen Empowered to Be More Aggressive Off Bench for Celtics

Ray Allen technically made his return two games ago, but he was not truly back until Saturday. Allen looked plenty comfortable coming off the bench for the second time in as many games, dropping 19 points to lead all reserves in the Celtics' 86-72 win over the Indiana Pacers. The most-asked question since Avery Bradley shifted into the starting lineup was: How can the Celtics...

Ray approached Doc about coming off the bench

Boston Herald The NBA had a small tremor last night. Avery Bradley started, which is no longer news. But the player who came off the bench in his stead, Ray Allen, was a sub for only the fifth time in his career — with last night the 1,145th game of the Celtics [team stats] guard’s career. As it turns out, Allen approached Doc Rivers about making the change. The Celtics veteran...

Recap: Celtics survive in Indiana

The Celtics apparently responded to Doc River's tirade by coming out strong and building a 24-19 first quarter lead, and extending that to 43-33 at the half.  The lead, amazingly, was built on 28 bench points courtesy of 10 points each from Greg Stiemsma and Ray Allen and 8 from Sasha Pavlovic.   The second half was an ugly, disjointed, most poorly officiated mess of a half...

Celtics snap Pacers streak: BOS 86 IND 72

The Indiana Pacers had yet to lose in the month of April until the Boston Celtics handed them an 86-72 loss Saturday night at the TD Garden. Paul Pierce led Celtics scorers with 24 points while Ray Allen scored 19 points in his second straight game coming off the bench for Boston. Danny Granger led the Pacers with 20 points.

Celtics vs Pacers GreenLights

The Celtics had a day off to simmer and stew under the boiling heat of Doc's post-game comments following the loss to the Bulls in Chicago.  No, Doc didn't say the C's were exactly hot but rather the exact opposite.  Calling his team the "cool Celtics," he let them have it.  What transpired last night in Indiana was an inspiring wire-to-wire effort that resulted...

Recap: Celtics pat 76ers on the head, put them to bed

Some might say it's a tad too early to write off the 76ers, but I'm gonna do it. The Celtics stomped all over the defenseless 76ers tonight, 103-79, and increased their lead in the Atlantic Division to 3 games. Like me in a crowd of single ladies, the Celtics couldn't miss. Boston shot 58% from the field and 46% from 3. Straight money. The Celtics continue to dominate...
