Patrick Willis might not have known who Matt Millen was a few days ago, but the San Francisco 49ers linebacker certainly knows about the former Pro Bowler now. Willis apologized Tuesday, a day after ripping Millen, now a football analyst, for comments Millen made that were critical of the 49ers' defense in the team's 26-3 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday. "Yesterday kind of got to me," Willis said Tuesday. "A lot of times I don't have a lot to say on what other people say. It was my emotion coming out the day after a game. "I said things I shouldn't have said. I apologize for those things. I have all the respect in the world for the guys who played this game and played at a high level." A day earlier, Willis had said, "Whoever this Matt Millen guy is, I'd like to ask him if he could do what we do every day and do what we do for 16 games a year and see if he can hold up every game. I doubt he would. I doubt he would be ab...

Patrick Willis: Who is Matt Millen?

Apparently, the Niners defensive stud doesn't follow the history of legendary linebackers or legendarily awful general managers.

Former Detroit Lions general manager Matt Millen was a guest on the The Wheelhouse on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco and was very critical of how 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis played. When Willis came on the show he was asked if it was fair for Millen to say that he played the worst game of his career.“[Laughs] Oh man it’s like what it is with anything,” said Willis. “We...

Patrick Willis says Matt Millen could never play In NFL, even though Millen played in NFL

Matt Millen before he destroyed the Lions as a GM was a very good NFL linebacker. Not a superstar, but a very solid contributor on not one, but four Super Bowl teams. Millen commented on a San Francisco radio program that Patrick Willis had his worst game as a 49er during the loss to the Giants. Millen is an analysis now, so it is his job to make critiques, but Willis got into his...

Donte Whitner says the 49ers possibly got caught up in redeeming themselves

After Sunday’s loss to the Giants, 49ers safety Donte Whitner suggested that they were too caught up in redeeming themselves after losing last year’s NFC title game, instead of being focused on the task at hand.We “possibly got too high,” Whitner said, per the San Francisco Chronicle. “A lot of people talking about redemption and this and that. Really, it’s Game 6 of...

The San Francisco 49ers fall in blowout loss to the New York Giants

The San Francisco 49ers drop their record to 4-2 after being dealt a healthy dose of reality in a painfully lopsided loss to the New York Giants in week six 26-3. The Giants came into Candlestick Park on Sunday and handed the 49ers their worst loss since Jim Harbaugh took over as head coach. A night that saw the 49ers squander away numerous opportunities to the advantageous Giants...

Miami, San Fran finalists to host Super Bowl L

Chicago (AP) - South Florida and San Francisco -- actually Santa Clara, where the 49ers are building a new stadium -- will compete to host the 50th Super Bowl in 2016. The loser of that bid will compete with Houston for the 2017 game. Some owners have said SunLife Stadium in Miami needs major upgrades before it should be considered for another Super Bowl; Miami has hosted the most...

49ers quickly turn focus from Giants to Seahawks

Jim Harbaugh didn't spend any time wallowing Monday after the most lopsided loss in his two seasons as coach of the San Francisco 49ers. He has only three days to prepare his team for Thursday's key NFC West game against Seattle, and he might have to do it without the services of Pro Bowl offensive tackle Joe Staley. Staley is visiting a neurologist after suffering a concussion...

49ers have much to prove against physical Seahawks

The 49ers are 4-2 and widely hailed as one of the best teams in the NFC. Outside the locker room, it might feel more like 2-4, particularly after the Giants blasted them 26-3 on Sunday in a rematch of the NFC Championship game. They have been nothing if not enigmatic with blow out wins over the Bills and Jets and then manhandling at the hands of the Vikings and Giants. The 49ers...

Seahawks visit 49ers in key NFC West matchup

Last October, the San Francisco 49ers were all alone in first place and already on their way to winning the NFC West title in commanding fashion in coach Jim Harbaugh's first season. That's hardly the case this year as they prepare for their division opener at home Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks: There's a three-way tie at the top among 4-2 teams Arizona...

He reaches out and grabs people. …“I thought it was...

Expect the Niners to shut down the Seahawks run game tonight and make Wilson beat them
