Kicker David Akers of the San Francisco 49ers has revealed the mysterious reason behind his roller coaster year.Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bees reports,Akers revealed that his â€śup-and-down yearâ€ť began in February with double hernia surgeryâ€¦During the season, however, he fell following a kickoff and aggravated the injury. He said he flew to Philadelphia after the 49ers-Saints game on Nov. 25 to receive treatment. Still, he said heâ€™s felt good in recent practices and in pre-game attempts, but hasnâ€™t found any consistency this season.This revelation was enough for the front office to give Mr. Billy Cundiff a phone call.
