New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick addressed the whole Aaron Hernandez situation from the Patriots viewpoint for the first and only time- strangely, while Hernandez was undergoing a probable cause postponement hearing (what it looked like on the right from NFL Network's Albert Breer and his Twitter).
And Michael McCann, on his Twitter, makes an excellent point in all of this:
Great pt by my fmr boss MT @brianheff77 Pats likely planned BB press conf to coincide w/court hearing. Kept crime reporters out of Foxboro.
Belichick, much like families that disown their relatives, only mentioned Hernandez's name in his introduction.
"I've been advised to address the subject once. And it's time for the New England Patriots to move forward. Ultimately, the judge and the jury will determine accountability," Belichick admitted to the press while reading a fairly-lengthy statement in a 22-minmute press conference ( a long presser for Belichickian standards, anyway).
