Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings have their work cut out for them on the offensive side of the ball this offseason. But things with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater remain well up in the air. That’s because of his stint on the PUP list to start the 2017 season.

GM Rick Spielman has said Bridgewater “is technically ready to become a free agent.” However, there’s a chance he plays for the same $1.354 million this coming season as he did last season. But how? The report indicates the following:

…because of the time he spent on the physically unable to perform list for the first six weeks of the season during the last year of his rookie contract.”

But Spielman isn’t going into too much detail regarding the situation.

If it goes into that area, it’s not a Minnesota Viking [decision] — that’s an NFL and player union that will have to decide that area.

But if you ask Bridgewater, the signal-caller could have started playing sooner.

Honestly, I probably could have practiced a while ago, but we wanted to be smart about everything. I probably wasn’t ready to be around moving guys and things like that, so using those six weeks just helped me with different drills and things like that, that apply to practice, that apply to the games.

Minnesota’s offseason of uncertainty has only just begun.
