The Cardinals finished just short of a playoff spot this season and coach Bruce Arians said Wednesday that he thinks the team’s focus heading into the draft should be on adding players who will be able to help the team right away. Arians made those comments when asked about the possibility that the team will take a quarterback with the 20th overall pick. Arians responded to that question with another one, asking “why?” before elaborating on his rationale for leaving well enough alone at the quarterback spot. “We’ve got two pretty good ones that are younger [Drew Stanton and Ryan Lindley]. For us right now it’s about winning a championship,” Arians said, via Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic. “I don’t think we can afford to have a guy come in like that. I’m not a believer in a guy learning anything sitting on the bench. You have to play; it’s the only way you learn. He’s got to get the reps in practice, be under center and throwing all the time.”

Bruce Arians says that the Cardinals aren’t interested in drafting a QB

The Arizona Cardinals had a fairly successful season, just missing the playoffs. They played well enough to be slotted with the 20th overall pick, a place many felt they could land a QB. HC Bruce Arians says to hold the phone on that talk. “We’ve got two pretty good ones that are younger [Drew Stanton and Ryan Lindley]. For us right now it’s about winning a championship,...

Where are the Arizona Cardinals in the way too early 2014 Power Rankings?

Only one game and two teams remain. For everyone else, the calendar (both in real terms and in the football world) has turned to 2014. Next season is now this season for 30 NFL franchises. Thus, it’s time to start assessing where everyone stacks up heading into next year. Who will bounce back? Who will fall off? Who has made good hires? And who has made bad fires? The regular season...

Cardinals Roster Reivew: Linebackers

The Arizona Cardinals have two problems at the linebacker position. First, they have a wealth of talent up the middle but need more support on the outside. Second, they have a couple players coming back off of injuries which adds depth to the team and makes it difficult to decide who stays and who goes. Let’s take a look at the position and see how the players stack up for 2014...

Zastudil is also the holder on...

Arians' draft comments hint at Cardinals' priorities

One thing Bruce Arians has established in his year with the Cardinals -- other than that he's a pretty good coach, of course -- is that he doesn't possess the coachspeak filter that comes installed standard on most of his peers. He speaks his mind and means what he says. With that in mind, Arians made some interesting comments earlier this week to Bob McManaman of the Arizona...
