The Arizona Cardinals should have done what Kansas City did with Andy Reid, don’t let them leave until they sign. Broncos’ offensive coordinator Mike McCoy bolted (no pun intended) to San Diego today according to Jason La Canfora of cbssports.com, leaving the Cardinals unsure where to turn next.
The Cardinals are trying to keep defensive coordinator Ray Horton and are afraid he might get a job with another team, however, they aren’t stepping up to the plate for him either.
The Cardinals other options are Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden and Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley.
According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Haley told the Cardinals that his asking price to become the next head coach in Arizona would be “very high.”
Horton, who is the player’s favorite and has received a lot of support from within the Cardinals organization, could get the job by default.
