Gabe Carimi has been a huge bust with the Chicago Bears. There’s no denying that. The “Jew Bear,” I’m not kidding that is his nickname, has stood out as a horrible offensive lineman; even amidst a really bad O Line. On Sunday night reports are saying Carimi and the Bears have parted ways. Two sources told the Chicago Sun-Times. It was not immediately known what the Bears received in return for Carimi, a former first-round pick.   A Bears source said there was no deal as 7 p.m. Sunday. But another source said Carimi was set to travel to Tampa Bay on Monday. Carimi was taken by the Bears 29th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. He began the 2011 season as the Bears’ starting right tackle. As a senior with the Wisconsin Badgers, Carimi won the 2010 Outland Trophy, awarded to the nation’s top collegiate interior lineman. Since regular Chicago Bears beat writer Sean Jensen is no longer with the Sun-Times, this story was reported by S-T Blackhawks writer Adam Jahns.  The Tampa Bay’s offensive line coach Bob Bostad coached Carimi when he was at Wisconsin (also OL Coach). It wasn’t just the poor play of Carimi that made him expendable; the Bears truly beefed up their O Line this offseason. Chicago signed star left tackle Jermon Bushrod and decent to ok guard Matt Slauson. They also took guard Kyle Long from the Oregon Ducks with the 20th overall pick in April’s NFL draft. Paul M.
