3 p.m. Monday is the deadline for team's wishing to sign their franchised tagged players to a new deal, and Branden Albert is one of eight in the league who are holding out hope. If not, tagged players will have to wait until after the final game of the 2013 regular season to sign a contract. Albert signed his tender last March and will earn $9.828 million in 2013 if the deadline passes with no deal. No one, including Albert's agent or anyone in the Packer's front office are talking about the progress of negotiations, so it's basically a wait and see til Monday kinda thing. What we do know is that 'the Chiefs selected offensive tackle Eric Fisher with the first overall pick of the 2013 draft and plan to start him at right tackle this season, but if Albert is not retained beyond 2013, Fisher could slide over to his natural position, left tackle, in 2014', writes Randy Covitz of the Kansas City Star.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be undergoing a regime-change with new head coach Andy Reid at the helm.
