Former Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Tyler Bray went undrafted in the 2013 NFL draft but was quickly invited to camp with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs gamble on Bray may be paying off as the Kansas City Star reports that the 21-year-old has impressed the Chiefs.
Internally, Bray has impressed the Chiefs’ decision makers as much as anyone in training camp. Bray is here, officially, as an undrafted free agent, but there has never been much doubt about his talent.
There is no question that Bray has a strong arm but questions about his off the field activities aided him in falling out of the draft.
“I have to prove my maturity,” Bray says. “Lots of doubts about my maturity coming out of college, which I knew I had to fix. I’m just trying to be a man in football. I mean, not the man, but, just, be a man. Grow up. Know what you have to do. Study the playbook. It’s not about having fun anymore, it’s a job now. But you can have fun on the field.”
Bray is viewed as the third option on the Chiefs depth chart at quarterback behind Alex Smith and Chase Daniel though some feel Bray could eventually work his way into the starters role.

St. Joseph, MO - When the Kansas City Chiefs selected Cincinnati Bearcat Tight End, Travis Kelce, in April’s NFL draft, not many people believed this was an area of need for KC. But there is an adage, sometimes you add to your strengths before building up your weaknesses. And with Kelce in hand, suddenly the tight end position in KC is loaded with talent.
St. Joseph, MO - When the Kansas City Chiefs signed former Missouri Tiger Quarterback, Chase Daniel, in the offseason, he came back to the Midwest after spending most of his NFL career in the big easy playing for the Saints. So how does he feel about going back to New Orleans Friday night to face his old team?
It's unreal how time flies. It seems like just yesterday the Kansas City Chiefs selected Eric Fisher with the No.1 overall pick. With that, we're already heading into the first preseason games of the year (not counting the Hall Of Fame Game) starting with Thursday evening with the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.Last year was...
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The top tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs a year ago currently resides third on the depth chart, trailing a veteran newcomer and a rather unheralded draft pick.
That alone is illustrative of a couple points.
First, the Chiefs didn't get a whole lot of production out of the position last year, when they fielded one of the worst offenses in the NFL. And...
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Stats are groovy and all, but unless you're in some kind of bizarro preseason NFL fantasy league -- and if such a beast exists, Lord help us all -- August doesn't count.
So yes, Alex Smith (7-of-8 passing, 68 yards) was sharper than a throwing star. Yes, Jamaal Charles (one rushing touchdown, three receptions for 27 yards) is still a one man chain-moving...
Two of April’s first round draft picks left their respective games with apparent injuries. DT Sharrif Floyd was selected 23rd overall by the Vikings and has left with an apparent knee injury. Floyd was considered by some to be the best value pick in the draft. Chiefs first round pick OT Eric Fisher also left the game with team doctors. Fisher was the first pick in this years draft...
The NFL preseason is a time of hopes, dreams and unrealistic expectations. And one team alone stands as the early King of Unrealistic Expectations in 2013: the new-look Kansas City Chiefs, fresh off the worst season in franchise history.
Overall outlook: New coach Andy Reid takes his offense to Kansas City where Jamaal Charles is already a featured cog in the machine. Alex Smith was brought in to be a game-manager. The Chiefs finished with the second-most interceptions thrown (20 INTs) last season. This could be your surprise team in the AFC for 2013.
Bye week: 10
Quarterback: Alex Smith
As I mentioned, Chiefs...
With the first preseason game under wraps for the Kansas City Chiefs, new head coach Andy Reid, had to be pleased with the play of his starters in back-ups in the first two quarters. So what stood out Friday Night's 17-13 loss to the Saints?
NEW ORLEANS -- Preston Parker had a pair of touchdown catches in his bid to fill one of New Orleans' open receiver spots, and the Saints defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 17-13 in the preseason opener for both teams Friday.
New Chiefs coach Andy Reid saw all he needed of new starting quarterback Alex Smith in the opening drive, which went 80 yards on 14 plays, capped by Jamaal...
With the first exhibition game set for tonight, the Kansas City Chiefs under new head coach, Andy Reid, are about to show the fan base how vastly different this team has become since he took the job in January. But wins count most, so here’s five players to keep an eye on against the New Orleans Saints.
