Franchised tagged Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee won't be getting the long-term deal he hoped for before Monday's 3 p.m. deadline, reports Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star. McAfee will instead earn a 2013 salary of $2.977 million, and enter free agency next year. He's one of eight players this offseason with the tag, and none fo them have signed a long-term to replace it. The Broncos' Ryan Clady looks to be possibly be the only one that does before the dealine, although that's not written in stone. Per Chappelle: ' It isn’t known whether the team attempted to negotiate a multiyear contract with McAfee. He signed the franchise tag in April, which guaranteed its value.“I’m ecstatic about the opportunity to be an Indianapolis Colt for at least another year,’’ McAfee said in an email response to The Star. “A long-term deal is obviously something that every player hopes to one day earn. But to have another year in a city that I love, playing for a team with the best locker room in the league and representing a fan base that is the best in the NFL is awesome." '
