Doug Free has agreed to restructure his contract. The Cowboys will cut the salary of Free who was set to make $7 million during the 2013 season. While the financial terms have not been announced it is expected to be a large drop in salary for the 29-year-old according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Cowboys moved Free around the offensive line last season and eventually split his playing time. He could be moved to a guard position in camp this season. Pressed up against the salary cap the Cowboys have been forced to restructure deals and release numerous players since the end of the season. Kyle Orton’s contract was reworked in order to sign linebacker Justin Durant. The restructuring of Free’s contract should provide enough room under the salary cap that the Cowboys can announce a deal for safety Will Allen. Quarterback Tony Romo and the Cowboys are also close to announcing a new deal which should provide further breathing room under the cap.
