A whole new season is nearing, and every team and player is anxious to shake off the rust and be in contention for the big show in February. Unfortunately, DE Tyrone Crawford’s first day back to work could be his last for the season before it even starts.
The Dallas Cowboys open up training camp in Oxnard, California. Crawford was doing some tackling dummy drills when he took to the ground immediately calling out for trainers. ”Achilles!” he yelled while pounding his hand into the ground, according to Carlos Mendez. ”I can’t…believe this!”
Nobody like to see a player get hurt, especially right at the beginning of training camp like that. The Cowboys believe it’s a torn Achilles, but an MRI to come in the morning will be needed to confirm the injury. Crawford was set to start his second season out of Boise State. He played every game last season and recorded 20 sacks. Dallas were confident in giving him the key reserve role behind starters DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer.
After the injury, Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas reported that Jerry Jones indicated that the Cowboys could look to add a defensive lineman. Their roster currently has 89 players on it, leaving one more spot open for a possible Crawford replacement.
