The Dallas Cowboys drafted Morris Claiborne with the 6th overall pick in the 2012 Draft.

Claiborne failed to make it on the field during the Cowboys' first preseason game, but will be playing tonight against the San Diego Chargers.

Unfortunately for Claiborne, the Cowboys' defense looked outstanding in coverage opening night.

The defense didn't do much to stop Darren McFadden the first series, but ended up with a shutout against the Oakland Raiders thanks to a late missed field goal.

Coordinator Rob Ryan's defense finally appeared up to the challenge of finishing games. They didn't give up a touchdown on the final series. A huge plus for the Cowboys moving in to 2012. Although they weren't defending against the New York Giants.

Cornerback Brandon Carr is quickly becoming a leader of the squad and is reportedly very positive and vocal with younger players on both sides of the ball. Carr is everything the Cowboys wanted and more when they signed him.

With Ryan's defense performing at a high-level, it definitely puts pressure on Claiborne to succeed early.  Claiborne possesses all the physical components necessary to play in the NFL, but adjusting to the speed of the game whilst learning Ryan's defense is no easy task.

Claiborne should receive some leniency if he gets beat once or twice in preseason, but the Cowboys are counting on him to be one of the starting cornerbacks against the Super Bowl champion New York Giants on September 5th.

The rookie will get his feet wet tonight.

Hopefully he performs well and adjusts quickly because the Giants' receivers aren't going to take it easy on Claiborne Week 1.
