Dallas Cowboys Now Married to Tony Romo: If it wasn’t clear before, it is now—the future of the Dallas Cowboys is going to be as bright as Tony Romo and Jerry Jones want it to be. Finding a quality starting quarterback in the NFL is not an easy thing to do. It would be nice if college success equated to success in the NFL, but that just isn’t the case. So when a franchise thinks it has the guy that can lead the team into the future it is smart to lock him up, right? That’s likely where Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was coming from when he signed Tony Romo to a 6-year contract extension worth $108 million with $55 million guaranteed. The move has since been hit with plenty of criticism. Donovan McNabb, the only quarterback that Tony Romo has ever beaten in the playoffs, has been especially vocal. His comments on Twitter have already been re-tweeted over 21,000 times. “Tony Romo 6 yr 55 million dollar extension. Wow really, with one playoff win. You got to be kidding me” There might be just a little jealousy at work there, but he does have a point. With Tony Romo at the helm the Cowboys have been a favored team more often than not at the beginning of the season only to stumble to a disappointing finish. Breaking down Romo's new contract

IRVING, Texas -- To fully understand quarterback Tony Romo's new contract with the Dallas Cowboys, you must understand that it's actually four different contracts. On Friday afternoon, Romo's agent fed to the media the blockbuster number: Six years and 108 million. That was the first number released into the ether. So it is destined to stick. Minutes later, I spoke...

The Cowboys Were Smart To Extend Tony Romo

WHOA. What an incendiary headline. These days it’s pretty unacceptable to write/say/do anything in support of the embattled Dallas Cowboys quarterback, but that’s what I am going to do here. I think it was a smart move to hand Tony Romo a 6-year/$108 million extension with $55 million guaranteed.

Cowboys save $5 million in cap room with Romo’s new contract

According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, the Dallas Cowboys have freed up $5 million cap room for the 2013 season with Tony Romo’s six-year contract extension. If the Cowboys can get Anthony Spencer’s extension worked out, they’ll create even more room, which can possibly help them make some more free agent moves.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function...

MEME cuts Cowboys fans deep

Sometimes, it's very hard to face reality. But a new MEME is floating around the web that is making Dallas Cowboys fans do just that. First this week came the realization (and the huge backlash on Twitter) that the Cowboys just guaranteed Tony Romo 55 million. Now, they realize there's another team who has more playoff wins in their own stadium then they do. With the...

Tony Romo: The NFL’s Joe Johnson Or The Cowboys’ Ticket To A Super Bowl?

There’s no doubt that Tony Romo has been under a microscope throughout his career as the starting quarterback of one of the NFL’s most popular teams.  The Cowboys just gave us all 108 million (or 55 million if you only want to count guaranteed money) more reasons to zoom-in. Much to the chagrin of many observers, the Cowboys from signed Romo to a six-year, $108 million contract...

Dallas Cowboys Extend Tony Romo: What To Do With The Money

It finally happened after weeks of speculation.Tony Romo got the truly necessary extension we all expected, and now he's got the second biggest deal in NFL history in terms of guaranteed money rather than being an free agent (with a quirk in his contract automatically voiding the two remaining years, but not until after the 2014 franchise tag window closes).  Jerry and Stephen...
