2010-nfl-draft-round
Dan Williams was the 26th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, but has struggled thus far in his career with a combination of weight and injury problems. With injury problems no longer an issue, Williams showed up at Training Camp weighing 314 pounds, which is right where the Cardinals want him. Williams is heading into a pivotal 3rd year, one that could end with him being cut if he doesn’t get his act together, but he’s still got time to make good on his potential. The Cardinals defense is obviously a lot better if Williams can be the player they thought they were drafting. With Calais Campbell and Darnell Dockett, the Cardinals have the best 3-4 defensive end duo of any team other than the San Francisco 49ers, but nose tackle has been a weak spot for them. Last year, Williams played a disappointing 244 snaps there, leaving the undersized David Carter and the terrible Nick Eason to fill in the rest of the snaps. A healthy and in shape Williams would allow Carter to provide above average dep...

Cardinals' Talley sued over alleged bar fight

A lawsuit filed in Oakland (Mich.) County Circuit Court alleges that reserve Cardinals defensive end Ronald Talley injured a man by smashing a champagne bottle over his head at a suburban Detroit bar on March 26. Talley, a Detroit native, was signed to the Cardinals practice squad in November 2010 and signed a futures contract in January 2011. He was originally signed as a rookie...

What to watch in Cardinals' first scrimmage

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- The Cardinals will host their annual Red and White practice Saturday from 11:30 a.m.-1:20 p.m. at the upper fields across from Northern Arizona Universitys Walkup Skydome. Here are some important details for fans planning to attend. As for the practice itself, it will feature a series of game-like drives, complete with play calling, with the offense going against...

Some good, some bad in Red White practice

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt urged caution two days before the clubs annual Red and White practice Saturday at Northern Arizona University. With a mere three days of practices under their belts -- and even less in full pads -- the Cards were likely to look rusty. Whisenhunt was partially right. Aside from goal-line situations, the offense managed just one...

Suit claims Cardinals DE Talley beat bar patron

A man says Arizona Cardinals defensive end Ronald Talley seriously injured him by smashing a champagne bottle over his head at a suburban Detroit bar. A lawsuit filed Wednesday in Oakland County Circuit Court names Talley, five unknown bouncers and the now-closed South Bar. The lawsuit says Robert Ford was attacked for no reason at the Birmingham bar on March 26. Attorney Jonathan...

Arizona's Peterson still honing his CB skills

It sounds strange to say Patrick Peterson could have a breakthrough season this year. After all, the spectacular Arizona Cardinals cornerback returned four punts for touchdowns, one a 99-yard game winner, and made the Pro Bowl as a rookie kick returner last season. But he knows that his biggest value to the Cardinals will be as a shutdown cornerback, and he learned a year ago that...

Quick trip to Uganda precedes camp for Fitzgerald

A few days before the start of training camp, Larry Fitzgerald had a quick trip to make - to Uganda for a charity appearance with former President Clinton. Probably no professional athlete travels more than the Arizona Cardinals' six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver. He says he's been to more than 75 countries and stopped counting a couple of years ago. Some of his journeys...

Record crowd watches Arizona defense dominate

Defense is supposed to be the strength of the Arizona Cardinals, and it sure looked that way as the team wrapped up its first week of training camp with the annual Red and White practice. A record crowd estimated at 14,500 watched the controlled scrimmage, where John Skelton and Kevin Kolb split time with the first team. Kolb had the only touchdown pass of the Saturday session...

I’ll Pass On: Beanie Wells

I thought you were my boy Juan… 2011 Recap:  Wells came into the season injured (shocking) and could never really sustain any type of consistency from a fantasy perspective. In fact, from week 6 on, Wells only scored 94.6 fantasy points with 28.8 points coming in one game.  He has only one 100 yard game during that span and that was a 228 yard explosion against the Rams.  During...

KSK 2012 NFL Prekkake: Arizona Cardinals

In 2011, the Buzzsaw finished 8-8. On the surface, that’s not a particularly impressive record, though it becomes somewhat more so when you realize that John Skelton started nearly half of their games. Arizona handed San Francisco one of its three regular season losses. The Cards also lost to the Vikings by 24 points. So, pretty mixed bag altogether. The team won seven of its...
