On Wednesday, the 49ers tight end tweeted that his aunt and uncle were killed by a drunk driver just hours after they watched him play in the Super Bowl.
WWLTV.com reports a Houston woman, Nechole Thomas, was driving at a "high rate of speed" around 5:30 a.m. Monday morning when she struck a vehicle that had stopped on the shoulder. Both vehicles caught on fire.
Police say "impairment is suspected" for Thomas, 26, who escaped the wreck with minor injuries. She faces two counts of vehicular homicide, DWI and reckless operation, and is being held at a local correctional institution.
