Silly me. On Thursday, I sat around all day waiting for the game to start. I checked my T.V. listing, not on local cable. So then I press the “Watch the game online” button on the denverbroncos.com homepage. *Facepalm*. Completely spaced that the NFL Network channel has exclusive preseason rights to air the games. Only $19.99 for the season, only about $6 in my bank account. Needless to say, I didn’t get to watch the Broncos play in their win over San Francisco 49ers. With a whopping score of 10-6, I am going to guess I didn’t miss too much. The 49ers had four turnovers, two of which were interceptions thrown by quarterbacks Colt McCoy and Scott Tolzien. The Broncos only touchdown came from Shaun Phillips on a nine-yard fumble return. Rookie Montee Ball only rushed for nine yards in five attempts. “I do feel like it went well. Probably one of my runs I could’ve cut it up earlier, but we’ve all got room to improve. Especially playing running back, getting five carries, you need to get a feel for the game, get lathered up. But more carries will come,” Ball wrote in the Camp journal on the Denver Broncos’ website. “Watching our guys get four turnovers in the game, it got me excited over there on the sideline just because turnovers are huge. They decide the game. Our defense did a great job.” The Broncos’ next preseason game is on August 17th, against the Seahawks at Qwest Field. My Dad has already started his smack-talking. In other news, on Sunday the Broncos agreed to a three-year extension with punter Britton Colquitt. According to denverbroncos.com, he said back in May regarding his contract extension that he pinches himself every day while driving into work that he is blessed to do this job. Colquitt’s 42.1 punting average last year ranked him third in the NFL. With that, I think Broncos’ fans can feel blessed that he does do that job. Punter Britton Colquitt
