Domestic violence charges against Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant will not be dropped, according to a report from Dallas television station WFAA. The Dallas County District Attorneys office will not drop the misdemeanor charge of Class A family violence, the report said, despite a request from Bryants mother, Angela Bryant, to drop the case against her son for allegedly assaulting her. Angela Bryant called police on July 16 and said her son grabbed her, tore her shirt and threw a weighted ball at her. An arrest affidavit said he repeatedly struck her across the face with his cap. Bryant surrendered to authorities shortly after the incident was reported. He could face up to a year in prison and a fine. According to the report, sources have said Bryant will have to take part in domestic violence counseling and community service. The sources also said the Cowboys have been involved in discussions with the district attorneys office. Bryant was not at Cowboys practice on Wednesday, but his absence is believed to be related to the hip injury he suffered at the end of Sundays loss to the New York Giants.
