The Detroit Lions are a pretty decent football team. They're 7-5, but if the playoffs started today, they'd be watching from their couches. In recent weeks, their reckless and, ahem dirty, play has been well documented. While it probably hasn't cost them a game, as they have been beaten rather handily by Green Bay and New Orleans, it certainly hasn't helped.

Center Dominic Raiola, an 11-year veteran, has had enough. Well, it seems that way anyhow. After the Saints game this past Sunday night, a game in which the Lions committed 11 penalties for 107 yards including multiple personal fouls for unsportsmanlike conduct, Raiola let loose. Warning: the language is bleeped out, but isn't work safe.
His message was clear...and very very prevalent. The Lions have four games left and need to win three to have a legitimate shot at getting an NFC Wildcard spot. So the growing up will have to occur quickly. Raiola wants everybody to grow up. That goes for Ndamukong Suh, tight end Brandon Pettigrew, return man and offensive jitterbug Stefan Logan, you, me, the reporters in the locker room, the chubby kid down the street - everybody. It's weird being scolded to grow up from a guy who did this less than a year ago.
I wasn't responsible for pushing anyone after the play on Sunday night. I did spill my water on the carpet, but the ref didn't see it. Nonetheless, I've started using a sippy cup because I don't want to "grow the (expletive) up!"
