Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid said wide receiver Donnie Avery is opening eyes and impressing the coaching staff during OTA workouts.
Avery is the frontrunner to start opposite Dwayne Bowe in 2014.
He will compete with A.J. Jenkins for snaps to win the No. 2 receiver job.
"Donnie looks good," Reid said, via CBS.
"He's running fast, and I remember this time last year he had the high ankle or there was something there, so he really missed all of the OTAs and then he came back and he had the scapula there that he had hurt. He's in good shape right now."
Avery had 40 catches for 596 yards and two touchdowns in 2013.
