I got my hands on the Eagles’ draft party, and while you had to pay for food, it was a good barometer of Eagles’ fans.
The number one (unofficial) Sean Young gave his thumbs up on the Eagles pick of Flectcher Cox at the 12th overall pick.
“I love the pick,” an enthusiastic Young said, after being shown on ESPN.
The Eagles traded the 15th overall, a fourth and sixth round pick to Seattle in exchange for the 12th overall.
Talk from experts had the Eagles moving to seventh for a chance to get Cox, a defensive end from Mississipi State.
Cheers went up from the crowd as the Eagles took Cox.
Antiscipation grew as Kansas City chose Dontari Poe, a defensive lineman, at 11.
After the first two picks of Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III at one and two, respectively, wheeling and dealing started.
Cleveland jumped to three from four, and picked Trent Richardson, RB, at three.
The Cowboys jumped to six and took Morris Clayborne at six, Ryan Tannehill, quarterback went eight to Miami as expected...
BEST OF MAXIM
Now that the Philadelphia Eagles have their shiny new DT Fletcher Cox, who are some players they could target on Day 2 of the 2012 NFL draft?
Lavonte David would look good as an Eagle!! Photo: giantsgab.com
The Eagles currently hold three picks on Day 2: Nos 46, 51 and 88. There are several good players still on the board, many of which could be potential targets. I’m going...
Pro Football Hall of Famer Ray Didinger said that of all of the defensive linemen in this year’s draft, DT Fletcher Cox was the best.
That’s high praise. And there was a lot more of it from inside of the Eagles organization.
In the lead up to the draft, Cox was described universally as a tremendous athlete. At 6’4, 298 lbs, he ran the 40 in 4.79, amazing speed for a player...
Asante Samuel has been traded to the Atlanta Falcons for what has been described as an “undisclosed pick” in this year’s draft. The consensus, though not official, is that it’s Atlanta’s sixth-rounder.
Using the term “undisclosed pick” in compensation for Samuel is code for “we got absolute crap for a good player.”
How in the world did they only get so little...
The latest buzz amongst Philadelphia Eagles beat writers, fans, bloggers and draftniks is now that Asante Samuel is gone, the team will look to replace him with an early-round pick (first or second round) in the 2012 NFL draft .
Call me crazy, but I just don’t agree.
We’ve known all along that Samuel would likely be traded before the draft, or during the draft...
One round down, six round to go. Tonight is the second and third rounds of the NFL Draft, which I can guarantee will be more interesting than the first round. The first round of the draft is usually pretty obvious with little to no surprises.
While I was wrong with what player I thought the Eagles would select, I did get the position correct. The Philadelphia Eagles traded up to...
It’s draft day–who’s excited?! In a few hours, we will shift from trying to anticipate the Eagles’ first round draft pick to dissecting their selection.
But until then, let’s enjoy the last few moments of speculation.
Draft expert Mike Mayock of the NFL Network released his one and only mock draft yesterday, and on it he had Philadelphia selecting a player that some may...
Think back to December 1st, 2011, right after the Philadelphia Eagles took a beating at the hands of the hapless Seattle Seahawks, 31-14. Do you remember how you felt?
I do, and the two best words I can use to describe it without turning this into a profanity-laced tirade are angry and disgusted.
That was the Eagles’ fourth loss in a span of five games to drop their record...
ATLANTA (AP) -- A person familiar with the deal says the Falcons have acquired four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Asante Samuel from the Philadelphia Eagles.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity on Wednesday because the deal has not been announced.
The trade was made after Samuel agreed to restructure his contract to a three-year, 18.5 million deal with...
According to Jeff McClane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Eagles have officially traded cornerback Asante Samuel to the Atlanta Falcons. Right now we don’t know what Eagles received in compensation, but will update this post once we find out.
Samuel agreed to a three-year, $18.5 million deal with the Falcons in order to take a pay cut to make the deal happen. He...
The Atlanta Falcons have acquired Pro Bowl cornerback Asante Samuel
from the Philadelphia Eagles, NFL.com reported Wednesday.
Albert Breer of NFL.com reports that the Falcons have agreed to a three-year $18.5 million contract with Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel, and subsequently agreed to send a sixth round pick to the Eagles in exchange for him.
Samuel had two years left on his contract with the Eagles in which he would have been paid $21.5 million, but in order to make the trade happen...
Another potential sleeper in this year's draft, Kentucky's Danny Trevathan:
Great speed and pursuit on plays. Trevathan has great fundamentals and is a tackling machine, as he led the SEC and ranked #5 nationally. He also was mentioned for All-American awards. He will add to any team’s linebacker depth chart.
Small at 6’0”. If he...
