Fox Sports South:
Today's installment of Choose Your Quarterback pits Matt Ryan against Matthew Stafford, the Nos. 6 and 7 assets in my latest rankings of the 32 presumed starting quarterbacks.
For what it's worth, they're also the franchise faces for Atlanta and Detroit the only two places I've ever called home.
Here's a week-by-week fantasy breakdown of Stafford vs. Ryan ... just in case you're torn on which quarterback offers better value in Round 3 of all drafts:
Week 1Ryan (@ New Orleans) over Stafford (vs. Minnesota)
Week 2Stafford (@ Arizona) over Ryan (vs. St. Louis)
Week 3Stafford (@ Washington) over Ryan (@ Miami)
Week 4Ryan (vs. New England) over Stafford (vs. Chicago)
Week 5Stafford (@ Green Bay) over Ryan (vs. N.Y. Jets)
Week 6Stafford (@ Cleveland) over Ryan (BYE)
Week 7Ryan (vs. Tampa Bay) over Stafford (vs. Cincinnati)
Week 8Ryan (@ Arizona) over Stafford (vs. Dallas)
Week 9Ryan (@ Carolina) over Stafford (BYE)
Week 10Stafford (@ Chicago) over Ryan (vs. Seattle)
Week 11Ryan (@ Tampa Bay) over Stafford (@ Pittsburgh)
Week 12Ryan (vs. New Orleans) over Stafford (vs. Tampa Bay)
Week 13Stafford (vs. Green Bay) over Ryan (vs. Buffalo in Toronto)
Week 14Stafford (@ Philadelphia) over Ryan (@ Green Bay)
Week 15Ryan (vs. Washington) over Stafford (vs. Baltimore)
Week 16Stafford (vs. N.Y. Giants) over Ryan (@ San Francisco)
Week 17Ryan (vs. Carolina) over Stafford (@ Minnesota)Final Tally
Ryan edges Stafford, 9-8
1. We're splitting hairs with the matchups from Weeks 5, 7, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 17, reiterating just how close Ryan (4,719 yards passing, 33 total TDs last year) and Stafford (4,967 yards passing, 24 TDs) should be during the August drafts.
2. By any metric, Stafford fell short of expectations last year with the Lions. However, he also crossed the QB-elite threshold of 275 total yards andor three touchdowns 11 times, and only had two games of zero touchdowns. In other words, he might have solely been responsible for one fantasy defeat in 2012 Week 14 against Arizona (246 yards passing, zero TDs, three INTs).
3. In 2013, Ryan has eight common opponents from last year's regular-season slate. Of those games, he averaged 316 yards passing and 1.6 touchdowns. Stafford, in turn, also has eight common opponents from last year's schedule averaging 284 yards passing and 1.6 TDs.
4. Stafford has averaged 330 yards passing and two touchdowns in his last two season openers. In that same span, Ryan has averaged 314 yards passing and 1.5 TDs.
5. For the playoff period of Weeks 13-16, Stafford gets the nod three times, including the Week 16 Fantasy Bowl. Although, it's worth pointing out that Ryan boasts per-game tallies of 333 yards passing and 2.3 TDs against the Niners (including the NFC championship).

Titus Young’s girlfriend has decided to file a restraining order against him following his multiple arrests. It sounds like he’s had some serious issues with her as well. “He would say things like, ‘I understand why O.J. killed his wife.’ He says, ‘We’re always gonna be a family and I’m always going to be his,’” the restraining order request states, per the...
Darius Slay has traded rookie minicamp for arthroscopic surgery on his meniscus. Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reported the surgery and the word was passed around early this week..
Slay underwent the surgery on May 3, 2013. From early comments after the draft, it was thought that the meniscus was of little concern and that surgery might be off the table, but the Lions’ medical...
The Detroit Lions became the first NFL team to have all of their 2013 draft picks under contract, and they accomplished this feat in time for their Rookie Mini Camp. That meant that all draft picks, including injured Darius Slay and first rounder Ezekiel Ansah, were present and accounted for on Day One.
Now, having all of your rookie contract ducks in a row might not seem like...

Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush is a duel threat. He’s a solid running back and he dabbles in being a workout instructor for the day. Reggie got busy. Here’s the tweet, “Reggie Bush is my workout instructor for the day! #FeelCoolGoHarder w/ Mission Athlete Care’s” I’m sure Reggie worked the group hard.-TO
Reggie Bush Selling His Ride
Lions running back Reggie Bush says the Detroit offense is similar to the Saints team he played with from 2006-10, according to a ProFootballTalk report.Fantasy Spin:Bush is an excellent pass receiver and should fit in well with a team that passed 740 times in 2012 (46.2 per game). He's also was able to stay on the field over the past two season which made him a viable fansty...

Hall of Famer Mean Joe Greene took the time to defend Ndmukong Suh and the Lions defensive lineman's style of play, which previously has been described by some as dirty.
Nick Fairley picked up his game for the Detroit Lions last season with 35 tackles; 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and improved play against the run and pass, flashing some of the talent that encouraged the Detroit Lions to add him with the 13th overall selection in 2011. Apart from himself, he sees the Lions line as one of the league's most talented. Whether the young line will...
There have been some odd inclusions on the NFL Network’s annual “Top 100″ players countdown (like Jacoby Jones being on the list at all). Whether or not one of Thursday night’s rankings falls into that category of head-scratchers depends on whom you ask.

While Reggie Bush's stint with the Saints wasn't enough for him to stick in New Orleans, it did give him an understanding of a high tempo offense. The Lions run a similar offense, and it's given Bush a sense of comfort in the offense.
"As far as from an offensive perspective it's a lot like what we did in New Orleans," Bush said on NFL AM. "It...
Titus Young has been the talk of the league this offseason.
First, he was released from the Detroit Lions, just two seasons after the team drafted him in the second round. He had a me-first attitude, and it didn’t seem to phase him when they let him go.
Shortly after his release, the receiver-needy Rams brought him in to give him a second chance – but that didn’t last longer...
