As they do each year, the Chiefs spent the Thanksgiving holiday handing out turkey dinners to low-income families in the Kansas City area.
But instead of giving thanks, one fan skipped the platitudes and delved straight into a football discussion with receiver Dexter McCluster.
In this video from KSHB.com, McCluster visited the home of a fan identified as Ms. Louise, doling out a warm meal and signed Chiefs memorabilia to the elderly lady.
She couldn’t resist reminding him that the 1-9 club is … well, 1-9.
“Y’all better start winning some games,” Ms. Louise said. “I’ve been praying, but y’all got to work a little bit harder.” McCluster was a good sport about it. “She definitely gave me a pep talk,” he said.
If only the 52 other active players received the same motivation, they might be able to climb out of the AFC West cellar. Alas…
