New Orleans Saints
With receiver Lance Moore, right tackle Zach Strief and Jonathan Vilma in pads and working through at least parts of practice, the New Orleans Saints are optimistic they'll have more veteran leadership on the field for an expected playoff push.
Less certain is how long it will take New Orleans' most productive pass-catcher, tight end Jimmy Graham, to return from a left foot injury.
Graham was unable to practice on Wednesday, though he did not appear seriously hurt as he walked the sideline with tape on his left foot.
''He's someone who I think is doing well,'' Payton said with his usual vagueness regarding injuries. ''Each day, we'll just take a peek on how he's progressing and be smart.''
Last week's bye came at a good time for Graham and a number of other Saints regulars. Graham hurt his foot late in the Saints' loss at New England -- the only loss so far for New Orleans (5-1).
The Saints return to action at home thi...
BEST OF MAXIM
While we await the results of the Saints’ evaluation of Jimmy Graham‘s lower leg injury, or really any word from the Saints organization, a sense of growing optimism from within the organization begins to emerge, per ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.
UPDATE: Jimmy Graham did not participate in practice on Wednesday. Whether this is just precautionary or there’s legitimate concern,...
The New Orleans Saints have been resting on their bye week for the past week. There are many aspects that they are concentrating on. The most important story line is probably Jimmy Graham’s foot he injured during the New England Patriots’ game. Anytime missed by Graham would severely hurt the Saints’ offense. Besides Graham’s ailment, here are three things to watch for coming...
New Orleans Saints tight end Benjamin Watson spent no time dancing around the obvious when asked about the prospects of playing against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday in place of injured Jimmy Graham.
"We can't replace Jimmy" Watson said. "Jimmy does some things that only he can do but we will be able to come in and do whatever is asked of us to make sure the offense...
New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham did not practice Wednesday due to a foot injury suffered in a victory over the New England Patriots 10 days ago coach Sean Payton said today on a conference call with Buffalo Bills reporters.
The 6-foot-7 Graham leads all NFL tight ends in receiving yards with 593 on 37 catches. He has six touchdowns. He had 1310 yards and 11 TDs in 2011...
New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton said releasing third-year linebacker Martez Wilson was a tough decision. But he said “I think overall it was just trying to pay attention to production.”
“We had a chance to visit yesterday. I know that he’ll have another opportunity and you want to see him do well” said Payton whose prediction proved correct when Wilson was claimed...
Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma returned to practice Monday for the first time this season. Vilma had arthroscopic knee surgery before the start of the season. The Saints placed him on the injured reserve list to start the season, but with a designation for return. Curtis Crabtree of ProFootballTalk clarified Vilma’s eligibility to return to play.
Vilma can practice for the next...
SAFE PLAY: Saints- With the toll of a long season starting to mount (especially last week), the “safe’’ plays are quickly disappearing. As far as the Saints go, they are as healthy as a team can be entering Week 8, coming off a bye and are at home (3-0 at home in 2013). The Bills strength has been their pass rush. They are tied for 4th in the league with 23 sacks. However,...
We had a THREE WAY TIE for the winner last week. Terrible. So Gary J, Eliza18s and swebbman all get +0.33 points. I'll make sure the tiebreaker leaves no room for ties this week. Eliza18s builds a bit on her lead in the overall standings, and Gary J separates himself from the pack ever so slightly.
Make your predictions for the Bills game and try to win a $50 gift card to...
The Oakland Raiders claimed LB Martez Wilson off of waivers from the Saints on Wednesday.
Oakland subsequently released DE Christo Bilukidi to make room for Wilson on their active roster.
The Saints used the No. 72 pick of the 2011 draft on Wilson, but he wasn’t able to carve out a role on a defensive unit that was among the worst in the league up until this season. Wilson...
Facing the high-powered passing game of the New Orleans Saints will be no small task this weekend for the Buffalo Bills' defense. There will be no complaints, however, if its most powerful weapon isn't healthy enough to play. After an injury in Week 6 against the New England Patriots and a bye week to recover, Saints tight end Jimmy Graham is apparently still feeling the effects...
Despite that heartbreaking setback against the New England Patriots a couple weeks ago, the New Orleans Saints are still in many ways the team to beat in the NFC. They’ve got all the necessary ingredients to make it to Super Bowl XLIX: Sean Payton, Drew Brees and of course…Rob Ryan’s hair.
Oh…had you not heard? Saints Defensive Coach Rob Ryan is the Samson of the NFL. ...
The New Orleans Saints (5-1) are hosting the Buffalo Bills (3-4) Sunday at the Superdome. The Saints are coming off a much needed bye week after a last second loss to the New England Patriots. Though on paper the Saints seem to be the superior team, the Bills are not to be overlooked as they have just come off a win against the Miami Dolphins and are gaining momentum. Here are some...
The New Orleans Saints have had plenty of time to move on from their first loss of the season, which came in heartbreaking fashion.
Coming off their bye week, the Saints' focus shifts to trying to prevent the Buffalo Bills from moving back to .500 on Sunday at the Superdome.
Tom Brady hit Kenbrell Thompkins for a 17-yard touchdown with 5 seconds left to deal the Saints a 30...
ESPN’s Mike Triplett reports on his twitter page that Jimmy Graham returned to limited practice on Friday and will be considered a game-time decision for head coach Sean Payton.
Not exactly the news Graham owners wanted to hear, considering the fact that Graham and the Saints are coming off a bye week. It is possible that the foot injury Graham sustained against the Pats two weeks...
Welcome to another rousing edition of our Top 5 Tight Ends for the Week! We’re glad to have you, please make yourself at home!
5. Jimmy Graham vs. Bills
I have Graham ranked fifth for one reason and one reason only, and that’s because he may not play Sunday against the Bills. Theyr’e saying he’s a coin-toss decision, but I think he’ll play. He might not be...
