A game played by tailgaters and college kids may be the secret to the Kansas City Chiefs two-game winning streak. After the team's 0-3 start, coach Todd Haley brought in custom-made cornhole boards to help build team unity. Since adding the beanbag game, Kansas City is 2-0. "We've been trying to figure out ways to create togetherness," Haley told Randy Covitz of the Kansas City Star. "It's been great. It's a way to keep guys hanging around and interacting with each other, and winning helps out." Jim Zorn, the Chiefs quarterbacks coach who's fond of tie-dye shirts and bohemian mantras, first suggested the team-building game. Haley's wife, Chrissy, contacted an acquaintance who builds boards and had one built specifically for the team. Given the popularity of the game, and the team's success since introducing it, Haley says more are on the way. Covitz writes that long snapper Thomas Gafford is the best player on the team, with kicker Rya...

Chiefs Coach Todd Haley Builds Team Unity With a Beanbag Toss Game

The Kansas City Chiefs, after getting off to a woeful 0-3 start, seem to have righted the ship, winning their last two games.  Granted those wins came against a dreadfully bad Minnesota Vikings team, and a Colts team missing 230-pounds of Peyton Manning.  But hey, wins are wins, irregardless of how weak your opponents are. To what can the Chiefs attribute their newfound success...

Adam Teicher’s vlog | Comeback is significant for Todd Haley’s Chiefs

Analyzing the Chiefs' 28-24 win over the Colts, Adam Teicher, The Star's Chiefs reporter, says the win was important in many ways for Kansas City, but most importantly, the Chiefs are now a comeback team. Chiefs Use Locker Room Game To Build Chemistry

Coach Todd Haley has added a game called "Bags" to the Chiefs locker room to build morale and create a fun atmosphere according to Randy Covitz of the Kansas City Star. The game is similar to one that many tailgators play on parking lots. It consists of two plywood boards on an angle with a hole at the top. The objective is to throw each of the four beanbags into the...

Chiefs use locker room game to build unity

(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By DAVE SKRETTA AP Sports Writer The Chiefs can thank a simple game for easing some of their locker room tension. And just maybe helping them win a couple games. Coach Todd Haley decided to bring the ''cornhole'' game into the locker room when his team was floundering. The premise is simple: Two pieces of lumber...

Chiefs use tailgating game to strenghen team

The Kansas City Chiefs have found an unlikely source to build team chemistry beanbags. Players have taken up a game called "Bags" by some, an activity comparable to horseshoes. Two plywood boards set 33 feet apart are placed on the locker-room carpet. Players try to throw one of four beanbags into a hole for three points. If a bag lands on the board but misses the hole...

INDIANAPOLIS | The Chiefs trailed by 17 points in the final moments of the first half Sunday, which means they could have been declared dead by anyone familiar with their recent history.
