One thing about Bill Belichick… you can never predict his friends. Like, whodathunk he’d been cool with Bon Jovi and comedian Lenny Clarke? Well, add another one.
Turns out, ever since his Cleveland days, the Patriots coach has been buddies with Charles Barkley. They used to go out to dinner together. That contributed to Belichick appearing this week on Showtime’s Inside the NFL, which was on earlier in the week. I just watched last night, though.
There was some football stuff and some funny non-football stuff — it’s an entertaining show. One question Belichick got was what position Barkley should play on the football field.
“I’d play him at tight end,” Belichick said on Inside the NFL. “Great hands. Smart Guy. Knows how to get open. Can catch the ball. He’d be tough in the red area. And we’d use him on some crack-back blocks.”
