Emmitt Smith said what everybody has felt about the recent makeup of the Dallas Cowboys for quite some time now. Sure, they have the talent. Sure, they have the history. But when push comes to shove, are they mentally tough enough to get the job done when it matters most?
By winning in the playoffs?
Smith certainly knows what it takes to win in the NFL postseason in Dallas. For years, Smith, along with Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin led the Cowboys to the promised land with big plays and mental toughness. They battled through contract issues, media hype and difficult opponents to bring home three Super Bowls in four seasons. Those Cowboys were talented and tough.
These current Cowboys are certainly talentedm but Smith does not believe that they are tough.
Not tough enough, at least, to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Dallas.
