Jaguars coach Gus Bradley finally ran out of patience with defensive end Jeremy Mincey.
The 30-year-old Mincey was released Friday morning three games shy of completing his sixth season with the team.
A team source said Mincey was a no-show for the Jaguars’ team meeting, which started at 8:45 a.m. Friday.
A second team source said Mincey walked into EverBank Field at 9 a.m. and was taken directly to Bradley’s office.
Mincey met first with Bradley and then with Bradley and general manager Dave Caldwell before leaving the building without emptying his locker.
“It just felt like it was time to move forward,” Bradley said. “It wasn’t one particular thing that caused the reaction. I think it was just a combination of things. Jeremy’s a good football player, a good person and I enjoyed my conversation with him today. I can’t thank him enough for what he’s done for this organization and his contribution, but we just felt like it was time to make this decision.”
