Jason Hanson has kicked for the Detroit Lions for 21 years. Since Hanson was drafted by the Lions in the 1992 draft the team has seen some ups and a lot of downs but there was never a question as to who was the teams kicker. Hanson continued to be a reliable leg last season connecting on 32-of-36 attempts on a Lions team that won just four games during the 2012 season. The Detroit Free Press notes that ,while Hanson has told the team that he wants to return for a 22nd season, contract talks have gone no where. David Akers who was recently released by San Francisco after an inconsistent season is set to visit the Lions this week. The team also is not expected to bring back punter Nick Harris.

  • david akers over Jason Hansen would be huge mistake. 21 yrs an no thanks.pay the man.
  • Akers versus Hanson? No contest. The Lions should sign Hanson - he's the highest scorer on the team!
  • Typical from an ignorant coach and an even dumber uncaring owner.
Really!?! Akers over Hanson. That would be as stupid as not insuring Barrys return, oh wait. While you are at it Ford, get rid of Johnson, he caught way to many passes last year.
Until the Lions are sold they will NEVER go anywhere.
I am now, have always been and will always be a Lions fan (stop laughing) and just want a streak of winning seasons. I am NOT greedy, just winning regular seasons. Sadly at this point I dont even care about playoffs.
