Jim Schwartz and his staff will coach in the Senior Bowl later this month. The Jan. 26 game in Mobile, Ala., will give the Lions coaching staff a chance to scout some of the nation's top college seniors as they look ahead to April's draft. The Lions were fifth in line to coach this year's Senior Bowl, but with Philadelphia and Kansas City firing their head coaches and Jacksonville searching for a new general manager, Schwartz and his assistants accepted the invitation. The Lions will coach the South team. "If it would happen, we would embrace it and we would relish that opportunity," Schwartz said of the possibility Monday. "I think there is some insight involved in getting to know those guys over the course of the week." Schwartz's staff also coached in the game in 2010, and he said it helped them get to know running back Joique Bell, who had a breakout season for the Lions in 2012. Source: Detroit News
