Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hinted Friday that the team will split its training camp between Oxnard, Calif., in San Antonio possibly as soon as 2013.
The Cowboys announced Thursday that they are finalizing a three-year deal with Oxnard that calls for the team to hold its entire camp there in 2012, but Jones still has his eye on San Antonio.
“We certainly know what we have in San Antonio,” Jones said. “San Antonio has exactly the same percentage of Dallas Cowboys fans as we do in downtown Dallas - 97 percent. So, when we take our team down there, we’re saying a lot of things. We’re wanting the country to see how much we value our Hispanic fans. (Training in) San Antonio says that, plus it’s a great place to train in the Alamodome down there.
“So both of them (Oxnard and San Antonio) are good. A long-winded answer, but we’re going to be doing both to some degree.”
