The Jacksonville Jaguars traded up to the No. 5 spot in the NFL Draft to reel in wide receiver Justin Blackmon. Fantasy Spin: While quarterback Blaine Gabbert had a horrendous rookie campaign, he did not have much help as the Jaguars had one of the very worst receiving corps in the NFL, especially since top target Mike Thomas gave up on the team down the stretch. So while Jacksonville may look like a bad landing spot for Blackmon, we do feel that his presence will make Gabbert significantly better in his second year, and in turn Blackmon could tap a decent level of his vast potential in 2012. And should be the preferred fantasy target over free agent signee Laurent Robinson.

Jacksonville Jaguars Draft Grades

5. WR Justin Blackmon AI normally don’t like when bad teams move up because they have so many needs, but everyone said there were 6 blue chip prospects in this draft class and the Jaguars were in a bad spot at 7. If I’m going to knock the Buccaneers for trading out of the top 6 for just a 4th round pick, I have to praise the Jaguars for trading up into the top 6 for just a 4th...

Is Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan the new Toxic Avenger?

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid R. Khan is new to the NFL’s ownership group. Like most super-successful moguls, there are cries that he stepped over some people and left others in the dust. In his case, the dust is more like potentially deadly toxic fumes. Please click the link below to read the rest of this story.

Bryan Anger: Punter and so much more

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a history of inexplicable draft moves, highlighted by using a 2005 first round pick on a drugged out QB with the intention of converting him to wide receiver. It looked like more of the same during last week’s draft when they nabbed punter (PUNTER!) Bryan Anger in the third round. What the critics and haters failed to take into account is the added...

Jaguars release 2 punters

The Jacksonville Jaguars, who drafted punter Bryan Anger in the third round of the NFL Draft on Friday, have released two punters who were on their roster, Nick Harris and Spencer Lanning, according to the Florida Times-Union. The Jaguars drafted Anger, who played at Cal, with the 70th pick of the draft. That is the earliest a punter has been drafted since 1995. Harris, an...

The Jaguars have offered a tryout to undrafted PK Long Ding, who played at Norwich University in Vermont. Jacksonville Jaguars 2012 draft grades

Like mock drafts, draft grades are completely useless, don't indicate future success, and have absolutely no bearing on what teams do in the future in terms of drafting popular players (see Tim Tebow saga). Still, that doesn't prevent the woefully ignorant blogosphere from chalking up individual draft grades, and that's exactly what I'm all about. I didn't do...

NFL Draft Boneheads

Every year there are a few teams that leave me shaking my head with confusion. They did what? they drafted who? They took a 3rd round talent player with the 15th overall pick? Every year we can count on two things from the draft; teams that go out and improve their roster, fill holes at positions and make progress towards competing for a Super Bowl, and then there are teams that...
