Tim Tebow had a relatively good showing in the Patriots’ final preseason game, but he clearly didn’t make such an impression that the analysts would remember his name.
Tebow threw a 52-yard touchdown to receiver Quentin Sims in the fourth quarter Thursday night and promptly followed it up with an interception on the next drive. Analyst Mike Mayock said it was “a bad throw made by Peyton Manning,” on the air in his comments after the play. We’re not sure if that’s a compliment to Tebow, or a sign that the Pats QB is just downright forgettable.
Tebow finished 6-for-11 for 91 yards with two touchdowns and one pick in the 28-20 win, so there’s that.
Hear Mayock’s slip-up in the video below.

Thursday night may or may not have been the last sighting of Tim Tebow in an NFL uniform but it is at least a strong possibility.
The Patriots preseason finale against the Giants at Gillette Stadium — a 28-20 New England win — represented a last stand of sorts for Tebow and as he always seems to do he left a confounding impression. Tebow was underwhelming for most of the night...
Tim Tebow showed promise during his short tenure with the Patriots, but New England ultimately decided to let the quarterback go Saturday afternoon.
After making it through one cut, the 26-year-old couldn’t survive the final roster trimming before the regular season gets underway. Tebow Time was short-lived in Boston, but should it have been?
In the past, the Pats have only employed...
A person familiar with the situation says Tim Tebow has been cut by the New England Patriots.
After being let go by his third team in 18 months - and with the regular season just five days away - the quarterback's chances of immediately catching on with another team seem slim. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the Patriots had not announced the move. It was...
NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock made an embarrassing blunder when he somehow mistakenly referred to New England Patriots quarterback Tim Tebow as Peyton Manning during the fourth quarter of Thursday night's NFL preseason game in Foxboro.
It happened after Tebow underthrew a pass which was intercepted by the New York Giants. Mayock summed up the play as "a very...
Tim Tebow is done with the New England Patriots. The next question is whether his NFL career is over too.
The Patriots waived Tebow on Saturday morning ESPN reported.
Tebow 26 signed a two-year contract with the Patriots in June that included no guarantees. In three preseason appearances he was 11-of-30 passing for 145 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Texas A&M will be without its quarterback for the first half of Saturday's season opener against the Rice Owls, but that is not going to stop the Aggie QB from trying to do his part to help the team out (hey--a little prayer never hurts anyone, right?).
The big question may be this--now that Tim Tebow has been cut by the New England Patriots and likely done in the NFL...
(Eds: With AP Photos.) By TIM DAHLBERG AP Sports Columnist There wasn't much reason to dislike Tim Tebow, who never pretended to be anything he wasn't. Blame him for the Tebowing craze, if you will, but even that was worth a few laughs in a league that doesn't always embrace fun.
There wasn't much reason to like him as an NFL quarterback, either. Three teams tried...
The Patriots will release quarterback Tim Tebow on Saturday, FOX
Sports NFL Insider Mike Garafolo confirms.
It is like Tebow has some sort of cult like hold over Robert Kraft.
“I’m rooting for him big time,” Kraft told reporters prior to the Patriots’ annual kickoff gala. “I’m in his corner, but I have the privilege of letting Bill make those decisions. He has a pretty good record doing it.”
What would happen if Tim Tebow didn’t make the Patriots roster? I can tell you, ESPN would blow up and it would be Tebow Time again, until he lands on a roster or retires. Well today Tebow was given a vote of confidence, not from his coach but the Patriots owner Robert Kraft. “I’m rooting […]
Not like this was a surprise, but at least Kraft was rooting for him? Timmy Tebow has officially been released by the New England Patriots today.

Robert Kraft has learned not to meddle when it comes to roster decisions. But that doesn’t mean he won’t be lobbying Bill Belichick if there’s a player or two he’d like to see make the cut, such as a certain Tim Tebow.
Tebow’s time as a Patriot may be close to ending as New England trims its roster down to its final 53 players. While some people think Tebow has a future...
Five veterans on the bubble tonight--cover32: Latest on cover32:
1. Jermaine Cunningham
The 25-year-old vet out of Florida has had little to no impact on the Patriots since being drafted in the second round of the 2010 draft. Cunningham has played in a total of 27 games for the Patriots while, recording just 3.5 sacks.
Cunningham projected as a reliable pass-rush option at the next...
Can Kenbrell Thompkins parlay his preseason success into the regular season in 2013?
After embarrassing themselves with four turnovers in the first quarter last week against the Lions, the Patriots look to get back on track against their enemies in their preseason finale tonight at Gillette Stadium. While ball security was not an issue in 2012, this young offensive unit has one...
