Found September 22, 2008 on Dom D's Mets Fan Blog:
Daniel Murphy and Nick Evans, the two rookies have been contributing. Any time either one of them gets in the lineup or makes a pinch hitting appearance they always seem make the most of their opportunities.

Nick Evans who made a rare start last night in left, hit a HR in the 4th inning.. He is currently batting .272 with 2 HRs and 9 RBI's in his limited playing role.

Daniel Murphy who I think is the next Dave Magadan, came off the bench to hit a clutch 2-run double. In 40 games and 99 ABs, He is hitting .374 with 8 doubles, 2 triples, 2 HR, and 16 RBI's...

These two guys have a future on this team. With left field vacant, both of these guys should get a shot. Murphy who is Mr. Versatility, can play 1B, 2B, 3B, as well. He will play winter ball this year to improve his skills at the second base position. A position where Luis Castillo has a not so firm grip on at the moment.

All in all, it is good to see two home grown players come up and make some contribution towards this pennant race. I hope they continue in their success.

Update:
How's this for a bid for more playing time: The Mets are 17-7 when Murphy starts and 26-14 when he appears in a game. Murphy also is hitting .467 in September (14-for-30) and .500 on the current trip (5-for-10).
