In a division with a clear AFC contender and three teams looking to continue to rebuild, the Jaguars are unfortunately a part of the 75 percent this year and no one has argued that. But the team has shown more progress up to this point than many skeptics gave credit for. With only one victory in the first quarter of the 2012 season, that is all some will see. However, the other two teams within the division have had the same success thus far. And Jacksonville could very easily have been sitting at 3-1 if not for an overtime loss in Minnesota and a last second victory by the Colts in week 3. So it isn’t all bad and I’ll explain why now.OffenseThe biggest question mark going into this year was how quarterback Blaine Gabbert would respond after an abysmal showing in his rookie performance of 2011. To be truthful, there really isn’t any direction he could have gone but up, and I’d argue that he has. Other than being pummeled by Houston in week 2, he hasn’t had a showing anywhere as bad a...

The Jaguars lose a blowout to the Bears, 41-3

Oh, that's not good. That's not good at all. The Jaguars went in to halftime today tied with the Bears at 3 to 3. The final score? 41 to 3 in favor of the Bears. That shouldn't happen, ever. Heading into the bye week, the Jaguars now sit at 1-4, and it would suddenly take a small miracle for the team to claw its way back into the playoff discussion. At this point...

Bear Breakdown: Analyzing the Jaguars’ Offense For Week Five

Sunday afternoon the Bears will travel to Jacksonville to take on the 1-3 Jaguars who have struggled on both sides of the ball.  But, offensively, it all begins with running back Maurice Jones-Drew. Jones-Drew has been one of the league’s most dominating runners over the last few years , averaging more than 1,300 yards rushing in each of the last three seasons.  He has the ability...

Blaine Gabbert, Jaguars crushed by Bears

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Chicago Bears are turning their defense into a scoring offense. Charles Tillman and Lance Briggs returned interceptions for touchdowns -- their second in six days -- and the Bears used stifling defense to overwhelm the Jacksonville Jaguars 41-3 Sunday. The Bears (4-1) scored 38 unanswered points, including 35 in the second half, to win their third...

Bear Breakdown: Analyzing the Jaguars' Defense for Week Five

In 2011, the Jacksonville Jaguars quietly posted the league's sixth-best total defense, allowing only 313 yards per game.  Fast forward a year later and a Jaguars defense that is virtually the same on paper as last year has the 26th-best defense in the league, giving up over 400 yards per game. The major bright spot for the Jaguars on defense is defensive end Jeremy Mincey...

If the Jaguars can't pressure Jay Cutler, they can't pressure anyone

This Sunday's matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Jacksonville Jaguars is an interesting game. Both teams sport stellar defenses, although the Bears certainly have the advantage on that side of the ball, and both teams tend to struggle moving the ball on offense. Again, the Bears have the advantage on offense to, however. The Jaguars sit at 1-3 and looking for...

Jagaurs Not Consider QB Change, Despite Current Struggles…

Jagaurs Not Consider QB Change, Despite Current Struggles - Heading into a Week 6 bye, Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey insisted that he’s not considering benching QB Blaine Gabbert. After Sunday’s blowout, 41-3 loss to the Bears, a reeling Gabbert is 5-13 in 18 career starts. Mularkey believes the Jaguars are still close to being a good team, and told that to his players after the...

Chicago Bears at Jacksonville Jaguars: Three Bold Predictions

The Chicago Bears flexed their muscle, put the D in defense and dominated Big D (try saying that fast three times). The Bears proved on Monday night that their defense is here to stay and served notices to all offenses in the NFL. They forced Tony Romo into throwing five interceptions and held explosive running back DeMarco Murray to only 24 yards rushing.  To be blunt, Jacksonville...
