2011 Green Bay Packers first round draft pick Derek Sherrod will not be activated from the physically unable to perform list due to a lingering leg injury. The 6'6, 320 pound Sherrod suffered a gruesome broken leg against Kansas City Dec. 18, 2011.  Sherrod has been practicing with the team but was unable to convince the coaching staff that he is able return to the active roster. Sherrod’s injury lingered into the preseason and the Packers felt he needed more time. “He’s at the point, he’s coming off a major injury where you see progression throughout the week,” Coach Mike McCarthy said according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “The padded practices is actually what he needs, is probably where he looks the best, it has a chance to loosen up. He just needs more time. I thought he progressed each week and even within the week he got better.”
