According to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean, the New England Patriots and former Titans wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins have agreed to a two year deal.
Hawkins was released last week, but wasn’t out of work very long as the Patriots, who are in need of wideouts quickly, picked Hawkins up.
He had visited with the Houston Texans and the New York Giants wanted him to come in for a visit. He was drafted by the Titans in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
“He liked the situation in New England,” agent Brian Overstreet said. “They are going to throw the ball a lot, and they have one of the best quarterbacks of our time in Tom Brady. It’s a great situation for Lavelle. They use a lot of guys, and he’s going to get a shot.”
‘Hawkins, a fourth-round pick of the Titans in 2008 out of California, caught 71 passes for 771 yards in five seasons. He had just five catches for 62 yards last season.’
