Just like Bryce Brown, the NFL is getting leveled with it’s players breaking the law. (Photo Credit: http://img.bleacherreport.net/) The NFL’s reputation has recently spiraled downward with the unsightly statistic of more than 30 players being arrested since Super Bowl XLVII. And, another Philadelphia Eagle is making in the news about dog fighting. No, not quarterback Michael Vick, but running back Bryce Brown. According to Yahoo! Sports, Brown’s eight pooches were seized less than a week ago for possible suspicion of dog fighting. Reports from Fox Sports insight that Brown’s lawyer told reporters that he sent them to his local kennel in Wisconsin. The reason was for help with one of his dogs having birth. Beings that he used to running with the football, and fumbling, he did not want to rush his newborn puppy to a vet and accidentally mistreat it. This is probably one of the last things the NFL needs to be in the news for after the Aaron Hernandez court hearings on two separate accounts of murder. In 2007, Vick was locked away in jail for two years after pleading guilty for being involved with dog fighting. Since redeeming himself he is in another dog fight of his own. This time, it is one the Novacare Complex gridiron. A five quarterback competition has been underway since Chip Kelly was hired as the Eagles’ new head coach. Fellow quarterbacks such as Nick Foles, Matt Barkley, Dennis Dixon, and G.J. Kinne are making a lot of noise due to the fact that nobody knows who will win the starting job. Players such as running back LeSean McCoy, and wide receiver DeSean Jackson indicate Vick has a slight lead because of his athleticism, and breathtaking speed. Kelly was known to recruit his quarterbacks with athleticism as an aspect of his criteria at the University of Oregon. Hopefully, “Eagles Nation” gets an idea of who exactly is under center before at least preseason. Brown may not even know if he is the starter, backup, or third string. Maybe Kelly will decide whom his starters are based on the amounts of “shady” off-field situations.
