ST. LOUIS (AP) Playing catch-up is nothing new for the St. Louis Rams, who have trailed by double digits in every game. Week 3 was a step way down because they never got going, and now must rebound in a hurry. Coach Jeff Fisher said because the schedule is compressed heading into Thursday night's game against San Francisco, the 31-7 loss at Dallas cannot linger. Mistakes would be pointed out, players would be told where they need to improve, and then it's on to the next game. "They'll be fine," Fisher said. "All you have to do is put on a series here or a series there of our matchup last year, either one of the two games against the 49ers, and we'll have their attention." Fisher thought the 49ers "probably see themselves in the same situation" after losing 27-7 at home to the Colts. He turned a bit testy on the subject, noting he's been coaching a long time and knows how to make a quick transition. He said he wasn't worried ...

Rams distance selves from anti-military tweet

ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Rams say an anti-military Tweet by former offensive lineman Ty Nsekhe is reprehensible, and coach Jeff Fisher also weighed in on the comment. After practice Tuesday night, Fisher said Nsekhe (In-SECK-ee) wasn't in the NFL because he's "not necessarily a deep thinker, OK?" Nsekhe responded to a tweet that NFL players shouldn't make...

Rams' injury report: Chris Givens and Daryl Richardson back to work

The St. Louis Rams appear relatively healthy heading into their week 4 divisional matchup with the San Francisco 49ers’, according to their official team web site. Fortunately for fans, that is a luxury their opponent does not have. While a few of their skill position players were limited or non-participants in practice Monday, they were all back to work on Tuesday in some form...

McNeal: The Rams have plenty to figure out before they truly can move forward

ST. LOUIS -- The Rams have not proven to be that adept at playing football this month but they appear to be very proficient at forgetting about it. At least when it comes to Sunday's 31-7 humiliating loss to the Cowboys. While Rams fans still are recovering from their team's total breakdown that wasn't supposed to happen with Jeff Fisher as coach, Rams players have moved...

A checklist for the Rams' success against the 49ers

ST. LOUIS -- Rams fans might still be dwelling on the 31-7 beat-down handed out by the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, but the football team itself doesn't have that luxury. A short week means the Rams (1-2) are back on the field Thursday to play San Francisco (also 1-2) in St. Louis. Here are five things the Rams must do in order to turn things around. START HOT Rams coach Jeff...

Slow starts from Rams, 49ers put a damper on potential grudge match

ST. LOUIS -- If you're trying to work yourself into a frenzy for this, do yourself a favor and stop. Whatever seed of a rivalry the St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers planted last year has been neglected in 2013. It needs water fast before it dries up and dies. "It's a division opponent," Rams coach Jeff Fisher says. "It's a big challenge for us on...

Rams practice squad member Attauyo 'Ty' Nsekhe didn't mean to demean our military by tweeting 'It doesn’t take much skill to kill someone'

“Hard to believe that a player in a helmet defendin' a football makes more money than a soldier in a helmet defendin' his country.”— Morgan Reed (@_Morganism_) September 23, 2013 St. Louis Rams practice squad tackle Attauyo 'Ty' Nsekhe was responding to a Morgan Reed tweet that reads, "Hard to believe that a player in a helmet defendin’ a football makes...

St. Louis Rams: 2013 Week 4 NFL Power Rankings (#20)

Last week: 22 (+2) The Rams have spent a lot of money in the past two off-seasons and it hasn’t really seemed to have gotten them anywhere. Cortland Finnegan and James Laurinaitis, two of their big money guys, are struggling mightily, which puts the Rams in a tough situation. The Rams can’t really cut either, even if they continue to struggle, but they can’t upgrade them either...

St. Louis Rams vs San Francisco 49ers: Who will walk out on top

Photo by Tim Heitman/ USA TODAY Sports With both teams coming off humiliating losses against their week 3 opponents, the St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers are looking to pick up from where they left off last year. In 2012 the Rams were San Francisco’s kryptonite tying the first game and winning the second at home in overtime. This year’s first meeting between the two could...

Rams on pace to field worst-ever pass defense

We are the 71%. We are the team that turns every opposing quarterback into a Hall of Fame thrower. We are the team that you can bank on for somebody's career day each and every week, whether it's Carson Palmer, Julio Jones, or DeMarco Murray.  We. Are. Soft.  This is not the identity that St Louisans expected to take on when Jeff Fisher was hired. This is not the...

Kiffin's defense suffocates Rams in Cowboys win

There are a number of cliches in the sports world that attempt to convey the relative merits of coaching. The one that I catch myself referencing quite often is that "you cannot win the Kentucky Derby on a donkey." This saying attempts to capture the idea that the jockey surely matters, but not very much if the animal on which the jockey rides is not of the proper quality...

Preview: Rams have issues, 49ers have more, and both need a win

The problems the St. Louis Rams are having on the field might pale in comparison to the overall issues surrounding the San Francisco 49ers. Mired in their first losing stretch under coach Jim Harbaugh and minus at least one key player, the visiting 49ers look to avoid a third consecutive defeat Thursday night against a Rams team that gave them plenty of trouble in 2012. In two...

Rams-Cowboys Pregame: Jeff Fisher's Team Must Improve its Road-Worthiness

This weekend's game against the Dallas Cowboys presents another big road test for the up and coming St Louis Rams. The Cowboys look like an improved team compared to previous Jason Garrett teams, but are still a fragile unit that is vulnerable at home. No team in the Garrett era has finished better than 5-3 at home, nor 8-8 overall, one of the many factors that makes his seat...
