The St. Louis Rams and wide receiver Danny Amendola are “far
apart in terms of what it will take to re-sign him,” according to Jim Thomas of
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The Rams recently waived wide receiver Titus Young, who was
claimed off waivers from the Detroit Lions. His departure puts even more focus
on the team’s re-signing of Amendola and fellow free agent wide receiver
To put the situation into perspective, if the Rams are
unable to sign either player they would have only three wide outs under
contract; Austin Pettis, Chris Givens and Brian Quick.
Still, head coach Jeff Fisher wouldn’t overreact to the
news, noting that the team has options beyond Amendola and Gibson. Fisher told
reporters that while the team wants Amendola back, there are options on the
free agent market and through the draft.
Amendola returned from injury to catch 63 passes for 666
yards and three touchdowns in 11 games for the Rams this season.
