The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t made many headlines this offseason, nor have they brought in any of the big-name free agents that every fan pleads for. But before you bash John Dorsey or deem this offseason a failure, remember that championship teams are not built in free agency. The majority of the flashy free agent signings end up with either underwhelming results or the player that was once thought of to be a potential superstar, hitting the waiver wire. Something the Chiefs front office has done, though, is re-up an already talented roster with solid contributors prior to building the future of the organization through the draft. None of the additions made by the front office are flashy, and they failed to garner much attention on a national level. But, come next season, fans opinions on this offseason will have changed. Below, I rank the Chiefs offseason additions thus far. 6. RB/WR Joe McKnight: The addition of Joe McKnight went by unnoticed by many Chiefs fans a few months back, overshadowed by the Super Bowl, Pro Bowl, and the infamous postseason loss delivered by the Chiefs. But, the four year veteran has the potential to ultimately replace Pro-Bowl WR/KR Dexter McCluster, if used properly. I’m not going to tell you that Joe McKnight is the missing piece to the Chiefs offense, because he’s not. There’s no guarantee that the 25 year old USC alumn even makes the final 53-man roster. But, McKnight brings major playmaking ability to the table, and has the potential to become a factor in both the return game and the offense if Andy Reid can figure out a way to turn McKnight’s potential, into production.
