After a nearly three-month absence, the Baltimore Ravens' heart and soul will be in uniform.

The team announced Wednesday that it has elevated Ray Lewis to the active roster. Receiver LaQuan Williams was placed on injured reserve, making room for the future Hall of Famer.

Lewis has been out since Oct. 14, when he suffered a triceps tear in a win over the Cowboys. At the time, he was designated to return, but many doubted Lewis seeing the field again in 2012.

Although Lewis will return to the lineup for the postseason, he's expected to be inactive in Sunday's regular season finale. Coach John Harbaugh will slowly ease the 37-year-old back into action, and won't take any chances with the playoffs locked up.

Despite losing a few steps in his 17th season, Lewis should provide a major boost to a defense that's uncharacteristically struggled this year.
