According to Clark Judge of CBSSports.com, the San Francisco 49ers may be in play for Darrelle Revis.
The 49ers have a staggering 15 draft picks in the upcoming draft, which reportedly include 3 compensatory picks. The 49ers reportedly received a second round pick from the Kansas City Chiefs to acquire Alex Smith, along with a future draft pick on Wednesday. The trade can’t be officially completed until March 12th due to NFL rules.
San Francisco was carved up by Joe Flacco in the Super Bowl, but still have an extremely solid defense. According to Judge, they view their weakness in their secondary and adding Revis, if healthy, could only help.
Revis is entering the final year of his contract and is coming off a torn ACL. The 49ers could offer an immediate contract extension or make him play out the year to see if his rehab goes along smoothly.
