According to the Chicago Tribune, the Bears talked about offering quarterback Jay Cutler a contract extension worth $15 million per year before they hired head coach Marc Trestman this offseason. Sources said the team previously discussed giving Cutler a long-term deal worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $15 million per season. But that was before Marc Trestman took over as head coach. Cutler is due to make $8.97 million this season. Cutler will be forced to step up his play this season and prove his worth on the field.  Now that he has a more respectable offensive line blocking for him, I would expect him to have one of his best seasons as a pro.
