According to Mike Florio of, free agent wide receiver Randy Moss likely won’t be playing football this season. With Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin tearing an ACL and Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta gone for at least six weeks with a dislocated hip, the name “Randy Moss” could pick up some steam in league circles, at least from a speculation standpoint. Per a league source, it’s highly unlikely Moss will play. Florio says it will take a “perfect” situation for Moss to play. It’s going to take a perfect situation to get Moss back to the NFL, with the right combination of quarterback, role, compensation, and prospects for contending.  It’s not impossible, but at this point it’s highly unlikely.  Only a perfect situation, we’re told, will bring him back for another year. It looks like Moss’ NFL career is over.   Need NFL Tickets? Loading... ZergNet The post Report: Randy Moss likely done with football appeared first on Pro Football Zone.

How far can the 49ers go with a full offseason having Kaepernick as their starter? NFL predictions 2.0

The 49ers fell just short of possible Super Bowl victory last season.  How good will they be with Kaep having a full offseason and preseason as the starter? Have they done enough to make a run this year?  This is my second pass through my database predicting every teams record.   Here's where I have every team this season. San Francisco 49ers Rookie Defensive End Tank Carradine: Future Replacement for Justin Smith?

Size, durability, and speed are a few qualities that define a good defensive end in the NFL.  The 49ers’ starting defensive ends Justin Smith and Ray McDonald excel in these areas.  McDonald is signed with the Niners through 2016 so he shouldn’t be going anywhere anytime soon.  However, as dominant Justin Smith has been, he will not play forever at that position.  Eventually...

49ers GM Trent Baalke says CB Eric Wright is still an option: ‘The door is never closed on players’

San Francisco 49ers: defensive preview

Patrick Willis (Photo by: Stephen Brashear/Getty Images) Coming off a season where they were one play away from being champions you would think the Niners were a team that was set for many years on both sides of the football. However, there are some questions about the defense that will be answered when the real games start. The concerns  are mostly in the secondary, as the front...

CB Asomugha feeling right at home with Niners

A fresh start in a familiar place is bringing out the best in Nnamdi Asomugha. The four-time All-Pro cornerback felt right at home Saturday as the San Francisco 49ers practiced in pads for the first time in training camp, using the size and press-coverage skills that made him a star during his first stint in the Bay Area. Asomugha is looking to regain the form at age 32 that made...

San Francisco 49ers expanding TE Vernon Davis’ role

In fantasy football terms, San Francisco 49ers has failed to live up to expectations in recent years. A freakish athlete, Davis has scored just six and five touchdowns in the last two seasons respectively. Davis recorded just 41 receptions (2.5 per game) last year, but that number could be on the rise in 2013 while the Niners are experimenting with Davis at different positions on...

Vernon Davis had 303 yds and 4 TDs in his 1st 5 games of 2012. In the final 11 games Davis had just 245 yards and scored only 1 TD.  CK7 only had eyes for Crabtree or he just took off and ran the ball.  The 49ers have been working Davis into the WR rotation since Crabtree went down with a torn Achilles back in June.  Looks like they are serious about keeping him at WR. “I see...
