While none of the NFL coaches who have been on the hot seat since early October have been fired yet, the day is likely coming soon. Look for Week 13 NFL specials at Bovada on the futures of a few of those coaches on the chopping block. Among the coaches who will likely see their tenures end on “Black Monday,” the day after the regular season ends, there is no bigger name than the New York Jets’ Rex Ryan. The blustery Ryan predicted Super Bowl victories in his first two seasons, and New York nearly accommodated him by reaching the AFC championship game in both 2009 and ’10. But last year, the Jets missed the postseason at 8-8, and they certainly will again in 2012. Following Thanksgiving night’s embarrassing 49-14 home loss to New England, one of the team’s worst under Ryan, the Jets are 4-7 and going nowhere. Ryan is now 4-10 in his past 14 games. The Jets have major salary cap problems, so it’s hard to see the team contending next season. Mark Sanchez is regressing as the team’s qu...

Ryan: Jets' goal is to run the table

Rex Ryan is making no guarantees. No wild predictions or brash declarations these days. But the Jets coach still believes his team has a shot at the playoffs. That's despite the fact New York is 4-7, coming off an embarrassing loss to New England, and hasn't won two straight games all season. Hardly the resume of a team with its sights set on playing past Week 17. Ryan...

New York Jets must get Alex Smith

The flash in the NFL pan that’s been the Rex Ryan-era New York Jets was finally doused Thanksgiving night thanks to the New England Patriots. Losing to the dominant division foe from up north is one thing, but losing like the way the J-E-T-S Jets-Jets-Jets did is flat-out embarrassing. The fallout has been spectacular. Fan number one Fireman Ed has resigned, the boos have been...

New York Jets: Don’t Give Up on Rex Ryan Just Yet

Over the past few weeks, the New York Jets have seen their season come undone in front of their very eyes. The Jets have lost 4 out of their last 5 games, 2 of which came in blowout fashion in their home stadium. Many have attributed this to poor coaching. Analysts, fans, writers, and even casual football observers have suggested that perhaps Rex Ryan is not quite head coaching material...

Rex 'cherishes' first NFL experience with Cardinals

Regardless of what you may think of Rex Ryan as head coach of the New York Jets, the guy has a pretty impressive coaching resume. Ryan went from a graduate assistant at Eastern Kentucky in the late 1980s to one of the best defensive coaches in the game leading the mid-2000 Baltimore Ravens' defense. A few years later, he's the lead guy for New York's green team. But Ryan...

New York Jets Week 13 – Early Thoughts On Jets/Cardinals

A collection of early thoughts on the New York Jets week 13 match-up against the Arizona Cardinals, where the over/under shouldn’t be higher than 10 points.  1. This has the potential to be an epically awful offensive football game. Rex Ryan’s defenses generally perform very well against rookies and inexperienced quarterbacks. Remember what they did to Andrew Luck earlier in...

New York Jets – Where Is The Pass Rush?

Among the phrases I most frequently utter during a New York Jets game, “We really need a sack right here. When is the last time we got a sack?” is high up on the list. It isn’t just the 2012 version of the Jets who are awful at getting after the quarterback, it has been a recurring trend on the Jets over nearly the past decade. Did you know the last Jets player to register...
