When the Buffalo Bills released QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, it wasn't one of those all of a sudden, blindside cuts, he wants everyone to know. They've been talking about a for a week or two, but Fitzpatrick still nonetheless feels hurt by the decision. "It was a lot of just private conversations. It was nice for it to be kind of left between me and (general manager Buddy Nix) and not played out through the media," he said, via Dan Hanzus of NFL.com "It stinks. I really did enjoy being a Buffalo Bill, and unfortunately we couldn't get anything worked out." So with that, Fitzpatrick will be out looking for work. His starter days seem to be over and he'll likely latch on with some team as a backup. He showed flashes in Buffalo, and frequent regressions as well. He and Buddy Nix tried to work on restructuring his deal to keep him Buffallo, but the numbers "didn't come close" according to Fitzpatrick. "Obviously I'm not the one making those decisions, but you kind of have an idea at this point," he said. "But looking at the current roster, I don't think there was any way I wasn't gonna be the guy for this next season. And so, that was my mindset going in to it." var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
