New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said that wide receiver Santonio Holmes might miss the rest of the preseason due to the rib injury he suffered about a week ago during practice.
“Santonio Holmes may miss the entire preseason. Rex Ryan said on Wednesday that the Jets’ No. 1 wide receiver may not be on the field again up the regular-season opener against the Bills on Sept. 9,” reported Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News.
“Certainly it’s possible,” Ryan said. “But don’t think that will be the case.”
“Obviously, you’d like to have your guys out there on the field…. ” Ryan said. “But you got make sure you’re not putting them out there when they could be at further risk or they’re not ready to come back.”
All the Jets need to do is put Tebow at receiver and they’ll be fine.

According to Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger, Jets head coach Rex Ryan believes his defense will be ranked in the top five this season.
“Am I confident in our defense?” Ryan said today, per Vrentas. “Absolutely. Granted, I said top five. That’s a given. I don’t care who’s out there. (Defensive coordinator) Mike Pettine at free safety. That’s a stretch...

Even though he's a 49er now and not playing in New York, ex-Giants running back Brandon Jacobs is still unable to hide his disdain for the Jets, calling the team a "circus."
CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Olympic track star and former University of Florida running back Jeff Demps has drawn interest from several NFL teams, including the New York Jets, per ESPNNewYork.comHead coach Rex Ryan and general manager Mike Tannenbaum have put a premium on improving team speed this offseason -- a glaring piece missing from their 2011 puzzle. The Jets have been the central focus of ESPN since training camp began, and that truth hasn’t been lost on Rex Ryan or many others. The Jets coach went so far as to call his team ESPN’s version of “Hard Knocks,” which is a show on HBO that follows one NFL team throughout training camp (the Jets were featured on “Hard Knocks” in 2010).
“I know we did Hard Knocks before...
Giants defensive end Justin Tuck doesn't seem concerned about the prospect of Tim Tebow and the Jets running plays out of the Wildcat in the teams' preseason matchup.
The Jets love the spotlight and even when brash Coach Rex Ryan decides he will tone down his boastfulness, the franchise still finds a way to polarize the viewing public. Their Quarterback situation is akin to that of Arizona’s, they have endured bickering and infighting as well as players calling out other players in the media. Add all that to the fact that the Jets have...
Every year there is some turnover in the NFL, as head coaches are among the most visible and, therefore, criticized members of any team. Here is one take on three coaches who will be fired this season.
1. Mike Smith
The Atlanta Falcons' head coach may be a surprising first pick to lose his job. He is one of only six coaches in NFL history to take a team with a losing...
The New York Post’s Steve Serby, wacky topical punster beloved by the worst of all sportswriters, attempted a foray into the world of invented satirical NFL dialogues, a practice that crass, juvenile blogs have traded on for years and years. Surely, a professional writer with a bent for the ridiculous should be able to pull off a fictional conversation between Rex Ryan and Tom...
Here's an honest question: who is the NFL's wackiest head coach? I'm not talking stubborn, or meat headed, or tone-deaf or cliche-spewing or any of the other things that people tend to bring up when you ask anything but who is the best. Rather, I want the guy who tries off the wall stuff, throws in trick plays you haven't seen before, always has a fake punt up his...
The New York Giants and the New York Jets will battle for bragging rights this Saturday night (August 18th) in the 2nd preseason game.
The Jets recently have been measuring themselves against the Giants (mostly since Rex Ryan arrival) as the Giants approach these matchups with the Jets as just another game.
In the 1st preseason game, both the Giants' and Jets' starters...
