Seahawks add a vet It seems so odd to me to use the term “VETERAN QUARTERBACK” while referring to Brady Quinn.  It seems as if it were only a couple drafts ago when we were talking about the young man entering the draft from Notre Dame. It is hard for me to believe that he already has 6 years of NFL experience, for three different teams. There are several things to be excited about adding Brady to the Seahawks roster. Not Josh One that I am the most excited, on April 9, 2013, about is that Brady Quinn is not Josh Portis. I know a lot of people like Portis because he is a nice guy and he tries hard.  Well, I’m pretty nice and could try hard to be the Seahawks backup quarterback too, given the chance.  Doesn’t mean I have any business being their insurance policy, but either way, Portis or I in the game the Seahawks would be in trouble. He’s Handy His 6 years of NFL experience will be useful to Russell Wilson.  Russell got a lot of experience during last season, including the two playoff games, but he still has much to learn.  It takes years to gain experience. Brady is now, by far, the most experienced quarterback on the team. Brady is now, by far, the most experienced quarterback on the team. There is no doubt that Brady Quinn has had his cage rattled, and who knows if he will rebound from his less than stellar performance on the field.  Quite frankly he hasn’t played very well at all.  However, it is important to remember that he has played on very bad football teams his entire career. That doesn’t forgive all his sub par play but it does give us an idea of his floor. Quinn was able to have a 60.1 rating playing for a Kansas City Chiefs passing attack that was ranked last in the league.  I feel confident that he will be better than that in an offense where the defense has to cover more than one player. Moves Like Hasselbeck! Brady Quinn is a fairly mobile quarterback who, unlike Portis, will throw the ball.  He is also a pretty boy so the 12th woman should love that. As for the future, I like this pickup because I trust that when Pete Carroll and John Schneider looked at potential veterans they picked the right group to bring in for a workout.  I also have faith that the Carroll added the right guy for the team, out of that group. Jim Zorn weighed in today on Sports Radio KJR. He coached Quinn last year in KC and had this to say. On Brady Quinn “The #Seahawks get a mature QB, he’s very smart, will learn system quickly. Great attitude, wants to work” – Jim Zorn on 710 — Q Smith (@NWSBQ) April 10, 2013   On Quinn “Brady will add to an already solid QB room. He won’t try to disrupt, he will enhance everything.” – Jim Zorn on 710 #Seahawks — Q Smith (@NWSBQ) April 10, 2013   I have faith that the front office will continue to search for the best possible player to backup Russell Wilson, or any starter for that matter. I stand by my thought that the Seahawks will draft a quarterback in this years draft. Will Quinn be the number 2 guy, an emergency quarterback, or back on the streets come September?  I think it will be all about who wins the COMPETITION! Go Seahawks!
